How to Delete Gmail Account

To delete a Gmail account, follow these steps:

  1. Sign In to Your Google Account:
  2. Navigate to Account Preferences:
    • In the Google Account dashboard, locate and click on the “Data & personalization” tab on the left-hand menu.
  3. Scroll Down to “Download, delete, or make a plan for your data”:
    • Scroll down to the section titled “Download, delete, or make a plan for your data” and click on “Delete a service or your account.”
  4. Delete a Service:
    • In the next window, click on “Delete a service.”
  5. Verify Your Identity:
    • You may be asked to sign in again and re-enter your password for security purposes.
  6. Choose Gmail:
    • Scroll down to find “Gmail” in the list of Google services and click on the trash bin icon next to it.
  7. Confirm Deletion:
    • Google will provide information about what will happen when you delete your Gmail account. Read through it and if you’re sure you want to proceed, click on “DELETE GMAIL.”
  8. Provide an Alternate Email Address:
    • You’ll be prompted to enter an alternate email address. This is where Google will send you a verification code.
  9. Verification:
    • Check your alternate email for the verification code. Enter the code in the provided space.
  10. Final Confirmation:
    • After entering the verification code, you’ll be taken to a final confirmation page. Read through the information provided, especially about what will happen to your data, and then click on “Delete Gmail.”
  11. Re-enter Your Password:
    • To confirm the deletion, you’ll need to re-enter your Gmail account password.
  12. Account Deletion Successful:
    • Once you’ve re-entered your password, your Gmail account will be scheduled for deletion. You’ll receive a notification confirming that your Gmail account will be deleted in a few days.

Please note that deleting your Gmail account will also delete associated Google services like Google Drive, YouTube, and Google Photos if they are associated with that account. Additionally, make sure to download any important data from your Gmail account before proceeding with deletion.
